The client
Saint-Gobain is a world leader in the design, production and distribution of construction materials, with brands such as Jewson, Graham and British Gypsum.
The challenge
Saint-Gobain wanted to develop a framework for its sustainability strategy to provide structure and targets, measures and key performance indicators (KPIs), but didn’t have the in-house expertise, capacity or time to do this. IMS Consulting was able to provide independent and external support in advising on strategy. It worked with the company to build a sustainability roadmap relevant for the wide range of industries represented by the client.
What did IMS do?
In order to create the roadmap, IMS facilitated working group discussions to analyse where they are now and where they want to be. By providing an expert, independent voice it drew out the key issues and shared examples of what others are doing within the sector. IMS Consulting is now working with Saint-Gobain on the ongoing implementation of the roadmap, particularly in understanding what the various targets set mean for the company’s various divisions.
What was the outcome?
Saint-Gobain now has a vision for where it wants to be in 2020 and targets to help it get there. The roadmap applies to all Saint-Gobain’s divisions, providing a relevant common framework for the whole company. It was developed in time to be introduced to the company’s external stakeholders in its 2011 Sustainability Report.
