The geneva-based World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) is the world’s leading business-focused NGO specialising in sustainable development.

Objective

To provide a communication and resource hub to help educate and further the development of the WBCSD Cement Sustainability Initiative.

Multinational corporations, government organisations, NGOs, the media, the cement supply chain.

Following a successful relationship with the WBCSD, IMS was asked to quote for the delivery of a comprehensive site which, for the first time in the WBCSD’s history would deliver one of their Sector Initiatives entirely online.

An important aspect of the project development was that the site was developed and populated via regular consultation with a committee of WBCSD members, rather than from instructions received from a single contact.

The site meets the following criteria:

  • Separately hosted from WBCSD home site but fully linked to the home site. 
  • Populated with a large amount of technical information without being difficult to navigate.
  • Includes dynamic elements (eg scrolling photos) which attract attention and encourage visitor interaction.
  • Includes a members area; where organisations linked to the initiative can browse and download information from a document library, events calendar and other resources. This allows the WBCSD to provide the most up to date information to their members and have live 'working' documents for meetings and activities.
Delivery

A complex site was delivered to the client’s specification and in budget. IMS provides monthly user statistics to the client.  The site can be viewed at www.wbcsdcement.org
